2002 Mack CH & 2002 Mack CX recall: steering
⚠️ What's wrong
On certain class 8 chassis equipped with r. H. Sheppard "M100" steering gears and trw "TAS65" steering gears, a power steering hose with an incorrect pressure rating was installed by the factory.
💥 The risk
The hose, which connects the power steering pump to the steering gear, could burst or leak, which could result in the loss of power steering assist.
🔧 The fix
Dealers will replace the power steering hose. Ower notification began june 20, 2002. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact mack at 1-610-709-3337.
Is the fix free? Yes. Safety recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer under federal law, including parts and labor. (Vehicles more than 15 years old when the recall was announced can be excluded, but most manufacturers still fix them.)
