2002–2003 Starcraft Starbus recall: seats

⚠️ What's wrong

Certain buses built on the freightliner sprinter chassis fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standards no. 207, "seating systems," and no. 210, "seat belt assembly anchorages." the under floor support for the seat mounting does not meet the requirements of these standards.

💥 The risk

In the event of a crash, the seat occupant may not be properly restrained, increasing the risk of injury.

🔧 The fix

Dealers will add additional support for mounting the seat legs through the floor. Owner notification began march 28, 2003. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact starcraft bus at 1-574-533-1105, ext. 367.

Is the fix free? Yes. Safety recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer under federal law, including parts and labor. (Vehicles more than 15 years old when the recall was announced can be excluded, but most manufacturers still fix them.)
