2003 Neoplan AN460 Articulated recall: electrical system

⚠️ What's wrong

On certain 60' Articulated transit buses, the starter cable and additional heavy gauge wires had inadvertently been attached to the starter stud during the manufacturing and assembly process.

πŸ’₯ The risk

Over time, the starter solenoid could crack and a short circuit might develop that would result in a vehicle fire.

πŸ”§ The fix

These vehicles were sent to only one customer, new jersey transit. All vehicles have been corrected.

Is the fix free? Yes. Safety recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer under federal law, including parts and labor. (Vehicles more than 15 years old when the recall was announced can be excluded, but most manufacturers still fix them.)
