2003–2005 Ferrara Igniter & 2003–2005 Ferrara Inferno recall: suspension

⚠️ What's wrong

On certain fire trucks equipped with certain nmb-minebea kingpin ballpin suspension assemblies, the kingpin ballpin assembly CAN fracture possibly allowing the associated wheel to disengage from part of the suspension.

💥 The risk

Wheel separation while the vehicle is in use could lead to a vehicle crash.

🔧 The fix

Ferrara has replaced the king pins on all twelve fire trucks. No further action is necessary.

Is the fix free? Yes. Safety recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer under federal law, including parts and labor. (Vehicles more than 15 years old when the recall was announced can be excluded, but most manufacturers still fix them.)
