2006 Forest River Lexington recall: powertrain & transmission

⚠️ What's wrong

On certain trailers, the wheel stud CAN fail and separates at the base of the thread. This reduces clamp force on the wheel.

💥 The risk

The studs snap off and the wheel and tire are no longer secured to the hub. The wheel may separate from the trailer causing it to be a projectile on the highway increasing the risk of a crash.

🔧 The fix

Dealers will replace the hubs with new studs free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided an owner notification schedule. Owners may contact forest river at 574-389-4600.

Is the fix free? Yes. Safety recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer under federal law, including parts and labor. (Vehicles more than 15 years old when the recall was announced can be excluded, but most manufacturers still fix them.)
