2007 Kawasaki KLX250S recall: suspension

⚠️ What's wrong

On certain motorcycles, the top mount for the single rear shock is spot welded in position during frame manufacture, then is supposed to be completely welded to the frame in a subsequent operation. In a small number of frames, it appears this subsequent welding operation was not performed.

💥 The risk

The welding may become loose while the motorcycle is in motion increasing the risk of a crash.

🔧 The fix

All owners have been contacted and arrangements have been made to repair their motorcycles. Owners may contact kawasaki at 1-866-802-9381.

Is the fix free? Yes. Safety recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer under federal law, including parts and labor. (Vehicles more than 15 years old when the recall was announced can be excluded, but most manufacturers still fix them.)
