2005 Oshkosh Mtvr recall: engine

⚠️ What's wrong

On certain military trucks equipped with caterpillar C-15 engines, the variable valve actuation oil line may wear against the sharp edge of the cylinder head if not positioned correctly.

💥 The risk

The oil line may be cut on the cylinder head causing an oil leak and a possible fire.

🔧 The fix

A caterpillar representative inspected the three engines involved and made repairs as necessary (please see 05E-078).

Is the fix free? Yes. Safety recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer under federal law, including parts and labor. (Vehicles more than 15 years old when the recall was announced can be excluded, but most manufacturers still fix them.)
