2008 Dodge Avenger recall: fuel system

⚠️ What's wrong

On certain vehicles with all wheel drive, the fuel tank straps were improperly manufactured and could separate. This CAN cause the fuel tank to loosen and leak fuel.

💥 The risk

Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source CAN result in an underbody fire.

🔧 The fix

Dealers will replace the fuel tank retention straps free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during october 2007. Owners may contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

Is the fix free? Yes. Safety recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer under federal law, including parts and labor. (Vehicles more than 15 years old when the recall was announced can be excluded, but most manufacturers still fix them.)
