2008 Freightliner Century ST & 2008 Freightliner Columbia recall: engine
⚠️ What's wrong
On certain trucks equipped with caterpillar EPA07 C155 engines, the extension pipes attached to the aftertreatment regeneration device may develop a crack or hole and heat or flame may escape during a regeneration of the diesel particulate filter.
💥 The risk
A vehicle fire CAN occur.
🔧 The fix
Caterpillar is conducting this recall (please see 07E100). Caterpillar will repair the engines free of charge. Owners may contact caterpillar at 1-800-447-4986 or freightliner at 1-800-547-0712.
Is the fix free? Yes. Safety recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer under federal law, including parts and labor. (Vehicles more than 15 years old when the recall was announced can be excluded, but most manufacturers still fix them.)
