2008–2009 Girardin G5 & 2008–2009 Micro Bird MB II School BUS recall: seat belt
⚠️ What's wrong
Girardin is recalling 210 my 2008 and 2009 MB II and G5 School buses manufactured between august 1 and december 12, 2008, equipped with seat belts (option SMK2, SBK3). The seat belt webbing was inserted into the tongue assembly incorrectly.
💥 The risk
The seat belt will not tighten around the occupant and will not offer restraint in the event of a crash which may result in injury.
🔧 The fix
Girardin will notify owners and replace the affected seat belts free of charge. The recall began on january 9, 2009. Owners may contact girardin 1-819-477-8222 ext 401.
Is the fix free? Yes. Safety recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer under federal law, including parts and labor. (Vehicles more than 15 years old when the recall was announced can be excluded, but most manufacturers still fix them.)
