2012 Big Tex 22GN & 2012 Big Tex 25GN recall: equipment
⚠️ What's wrong
Big tex is recalling certain model year 2012 22GN and 25GN trailers equipped with a dexter axle electric/hydraulic (e/h) brake actuator pump. This pump may not have been properly heat treated. This condition CAN cause premature wear of some critical components in this pump which CAN render the unit inoperable.
💥 The risk
The e/h brake actuator provides braking power to the trailer brakes. Failure of the actuator CAN result in the loss of braking effort by the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash.
🔧 The fix
Big tex will notify owners and dexter axle dealers will replace the electric/hydraulic (e/h) brake actuator pumps, free of charge. Owners may contact big tex manufacturing, inc. At 1-903-575-0300.
Is the fix free? Yes. Safety recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer under federal law, including parts and labor. (Vehicles more than 15 years old when the recall was announced can be excluded, but most manufacturers still fix them.)
