2018 Polar Tank SRJ7 Trailer recall: brakes
⚠️ What's wrong
Polar Tank Trailer, LLC. (Polar) is recalling certain 2018 SRJ7 trailers manufactured with Meritor MTA/MTP trailer suspensions. The brake caliper bolts on these axles may not be properly torqued which can allow the caliper to detach from the mounting flange.
💥 The risk
If the caliper bolts are improperly torqued and the caliper detaches from the mounting flange, a loss of braking ability would occur, increasing the risk of a crash.
🔧 The fix
Polar has notified the vehicle owners, instructing them to check the caliper bolts per the supplied bulletin, receiving reimbursement from Meritor. The recall began on October 4, 2017. Owners may contact Polar customer service at 1-320-746-2255 or Meritor at 1-866-668-7221. Polar's number for this recall is C17AB.
Is the fix free? Yes. Safety recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer under federal law, including parts and labor. (Vehicles more than 15 years old when the recall was announced can be excluded, but most manufacturers still fix them.)
