2018 Nelson CBC-40ST recall: steering
⚠️ What's wrong
Nelson Trailers (Nelson) is recalling one 2018 CBC-40ST trailer equipped with a Dexter Smart-Steer Axle with a bolt-on steering arm. The steering arm may break during certain conditions, such as low speed and high side-loading.
💥 The risk
A broken steering arm and tie rod can separate and fall to the ground, increasing the risk of a crash.
🔧 The fix
The affected trailer has been repaired, free of charge. Owners may contact Nelson customer service at 1-419-523-5321.
Is the fix free? Yes. Safety recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer under federal law, including parts and labor. (Vehicles more than 15 years old when the recall was announced can be excluded, but most manufacturers still fix them.)
