2022–2024 Reading Truck Equipment RM-78 Crane Body recall: lights
⚠️ What's wrong
Reading Truck Body LLC (Reading) is recalling certain 2022-2024 RM-78 11' and RM-78 14' vehicles. The taillight may be incorrectly positioned, exceeding the maximum allowed height. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
💥 The risk
Incorrectly mounted taillights can reduce the vehicle's visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
🔧 The fix
Dealers will relocate the taillights, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 10, 2024. Owners may contact Reading customer service at 1-800-458-2226.
Is the fix free? Yes. Safety recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer under federal law, including parts and labor. (Vehicles more than 15 years old when the recall was announced can be excluded, but most manufacturers still fix them.)
