2021 Reading Truck Equipment Rail Gear Trucks HD recall: body & structure
⚠️ What's wrong
Reading Truck Body, LLC (Reading) is recalling certain 2021 Rail Gear HD trucks. Welds may crack and fail, allowing the front rail gear to shift and contact the road.
💥 The risk
The rail gear dragging on the ground can cause a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.
🔧 The fix
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the remedy has been completed. Reading will reweld the joints between the rail gear and chassis, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 5, 2025. Owners may contact Reading's customer service at 1-610-775-3301.
Is the fix free? Yes. Safety recall repairs are free at any authorized dealer under federal law, including parts and labor. (Vehicles more than 15 years old when the recall was announced can be excluded, but most manufacturers still fix them.)
